Millet was founded in 1970 by Ray and Betty Millet and quickly became a trusted manufacturer of firearm accessories. Ray had previously worked as an engineer for an aerospace company, specializing in injection-molded plastic engine parts. Ray Millet decided to develop a way if injection-mold metal, and over time this technique was recognized as the ideal manufacturing process for producing high-quality metal components.
Millet actually first started designing ceramic nozzles for rockets. The injection-molding process allowed the nozzles to handle sustained extreme temperatures.
Tom Millet joined the company in the late 1970's and brought an excitement for firearms. This pushed the Millet company into the direction of producing firearm components. It wasn't long after Tom arrive that Millet began manufacturing vastly improved pistol sights, including the dual crimp system. Ray Millet presented this simple riveting system at his first SHOT Show in 1981 with extensive support from dealers and gun enthusiasts. This pushed Millet into the role as a reliable source for gun sights.
In 1999, Millet made the push into optics manufacturing. Jim designed a computer system to test Millet scopes with precise accuracy, simulating recoil of a 30-06. With this unique testing system, Millet could guarantee reliability and quality in their products.
