Derringers
The Derringer named is actually a misspelling, refering to the original inventor of the firearm, Henry Deringer. The original Derringer was a single shot muzzleloading pistol.
In general, Derringers are the smallest usable handgun of a specific caliber. Derringers are commonly used by women, past and present, due to being easy to conceal in hand bags or pockets.
Remington Derringer design doubled its capacity by adding a second barrel on top of the other. Instead of the barrel swinging from side to side for access, Remington implemented a design allowing the barrel to swing up.
